Election of new Chairman and Vice Chairman of Rochford District Council
Cllr David Merrick has been appointed to serve as the Chairman of Rochford District Council for the period May 2018 to May 2019.
Currently a District Councillor for the Trinity Ward, Councillor Merrick has been a member of Rochford District Council since 2004 and served as Vice Chairman of the Council for the 2017/18 Civic Year. Cllr Merrick has lived in the district for more than 40 years, currently residing in Rayleigh, and has two children and six grandchildren ranging from ages one to 19.
On learning of his appointment, Councillor Merrick said: “I am honoured and privileged to have been chosen to serve as the Chairman of Rochford District Council for the 2018/19 Civic Year. I am very much looking forward to going out into the community and meeting local residents and businesses, as well as Chairing Council meetings and representing the district at Civic events”.
Councillor Merrick will be supported during his Civic Year by Wheatley Ward member Councillor Robin Dray, who was appointed as Vice Chairman of the Council for the same period.
The appointments were made during Rochford District Council’s meeting of Annual Council on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
