Rochford District Council has created a transitional Winter Fuel Support fund to assist pensioners with energy costs this winter. The creation of a £50,000 scheme is intended to support pensioners who may not have been able to access any funding, or only limited support, and are still suffering from fuel poverty and difficulties during the winter period.
Applications will be open from 18th December 2024 until 31st March 2025 or until the fund is fully allocated.
Applicants can apply online and physical forms will be available at the Rochford reception and Mill Hall, Rayleigh. Forms can also be sent in the post. We will be able to complete the online form for customers if they attend reception on the revenues and benefits drop-in day *tbc
Details of the scheme are set out below:
- Successful applicants will receive a one-off payment of £100.00
- Only one payment per household
- Applications will be open until 31st March 2025 or until the fund is exhausted.
- Payments will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age – must be a pensioner (state pension age or above)
- Income - not eligible for pension credit or other means tested benefits which would qualify for the Winter Fuel Allowance but have a household income of between £219.00 and £400.00 if single or £332.00 and £550.00 if a pensioner couple
- Capital – must have capital of less than £10,000
- Residency – must live in the Rochford District Council area and not have a second home
- Energy bill – must be responsible for your own heating/energy bills for the current winter period
Evidence required:
- Proof of age. For example a state issued ID
- Bank statements. This should be your most recent statement showing your address and your name. This will be used to confirm your bank account details to pay the award into.
- Heating or energy bill. Your most recent heating/energy bill or receipt for pre-payment meters
