Two creative young talents from the District have been named winners of the Chair of Rochford’s official Christmas card competition.
The Chair of Rochford District Council, Councillor Sarah-Jane Page, launched the festive competition to inspire children across the district. Entrants were encouraged to design the front cover of the Chair's Christmas card and write a heartfelt poem for the inside message. The winning card will be sent to Mayors and other dignitaries throughout Essex.
The Chair visited the school to meet the winners and present them with their prize. Year 6 student Darcy’s artwork was selected for the Christmas card design, while Year 6 student Zoey’s touching poem, ‘My Christmas Wish’, was chosen for the card’s message. Zoey was also given the distinguished opportunity to recite her poem at the Chair’s Christmas Carol Service. Both winners were awarded a certificate, a copy of the official Christmas card featuring their work, and a book voucher in recognition of their achievements.
Councillor Sarah-Jane Page, Chair of Rochford District Council, said: “This competition has truly showcased the wonderful creativity of our young people in Rochford. Darcy’s vibrant design and Zoey’s heartfelt poem perfectly capture the spirit of Christmas and will be proudly shared with dignitaries across Essex. My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who participated and helped spread the joy of the season through their incredible work.”
My Christmas Wish by Zoey
Chattering with family
Having fun and be joyful
Ripping presents open
In the snow
Snow falling
Truffle on my plate
Making snowmen
And have food
So much fun on Christmas and I love it
