Discover Summer Fun at Rayleigh Windmill

A hard-working team of enthusiastic volunteers make the Grade II listed Windmill an exciting place to visit. And for another year running, our Rayleigh Windmill has been awarded the status of a 'Quality Assured Visitor Attraction' by VisitEngland. With strict criteria for their quality schemes, the VisitEngland assessors return every year to thoroughly inspect the Windmill, and determine the most appropriate level of accreditation to award.

The Grade II listed landmark, which stands at the top of Rayleigh High Street, Bellingham Lane, provides a host of activities for the whole family to enjoy. It’s an opportunity to learn about local history, take in breath-taking views from the top, view exhibitions from local artists and where children can partake in activities including the chance to try their hand at milling flour.

Lead Member for Leisure, Tourism & Wellbeing, Cllr Julie Gooding, said: "We're proud that the Rayleigh Windmill has once again been given an accredited status, this is a testament to all the hard work our volunteers have put into making the Windmill a beacon of history and learning, that welcomes all with open arms.

"The Rayleigh Windmill is open to visitors for the 2023 season until Sunday 29 October.

Entry is free of charge, a minimum £1 donation per person is encouraged.
