Rochford District Council's Hockley Woods Car Park is now open again to visitors following resurfacing and improvement works.
Following an earlier transformation of the play area in November, the car park at the woods has undergone a much needed update due to the wear and tear of it's surfaces.
This £100k upgrade saw a new porous tarmac surface laid, larger bays and four disabled parking bays installed. Additionally, an accessible footpath leading from the car park through to the newly installed accessible picnic benches and the recently installed inclusive play equipment.
Rochford District Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Cllr Dave Sperring said:
"Hockley Woods is an important and popular Historic woodland that our local residents and visitors enjoy. Maintaining and improving the car park and paths to the play area is essential to keep this beautiful open space safe and accessible for all visitors”.
