Rochford's Christmas card design and festive poetry competition

Date

Rochford District Council’s Chair, Councillor Sarah-Jane Page, invites all school-aged children in the Rochford District to join this year’s Christmas celebrations by entering the Chair’s Christmas card design and Christmas poetry competition.

This festive season, children are encouraged to express their creativity through art and poetry. For the Christmas card design competition, students are asked to create a festive illustration on A4 paper, in a portrait format, showcasing their vision of Christmas. Please avoid using materials like cotton wool or glitter on the Christmas card, as designs must be easy to reproduce.

In addition, children are invited to compose a Christmas-themed poem titled ‘My Christmas Wish’, using no more than 200 words. The winning poem will be featured in the Chair’s official Christmas card this year.

The winners will receive a gift voucher presented at their school by the Chair.

Councillor Sarah-Jane Page, Chair of Rochford District Council, said: "We’re excited to see the wonderful creativity and imagination from young people across our District. This competition is a great way for children to share their vision of the festive season and reflect on what Christmas truly means to them. I look forward to seeing their inspiring designs and heartfelt words."

Please ensure each entry includes the pupil’s name, age, school name, and a contact for notification. Entries can be mailed to Rochford District Council’s Civic Office, South Street, Rochford SS4 1BW, or scanned and emailed to civic.officer@rochford.gov.uk

All entries must be submitted by Friday, 15 November 2024.
