Brentwood and Rochford Sports Awards 2024

Nomination categories and criteria

All awards are inclusive and encourage nominations of all abilities and impairments.

THE CLOSING DATE FOR NOMINATIONS WAS FRIDAY 30th AUGUST 2024.

The people being nominated must live in the Borough of Brentwood or Rochford, or be involved in or a member of a local club/organisation.

Award Description
Changing Lives through Sport and Physical Activity/Health initiatives An organisation, group or individual who can demonstrate they have made a positive impact on people’s lives through a sport or physical activity project.   For example, by increasing participation, promoting stronger, safer communities or improving health and wellbeing; or a scheme focusing on getting the inactive, active.  
Coach of the Year This can be any form of coach e.g. club coach, class instructor or deliverer. This person will have shown commitment to providing ongoing support and encouragement to those they work with – being a driving force behind the individual or groups achievements over the year.
Community Club of the Year A local club that has significantly developed and/or performed well in the last year at district, county, regional and international level.
Sports Personality of the Year An athlete who has made a significant impact in the last year at a county, regional, national or international level either individually or as part of a team.  Must be aged 18 or over on 1st September 2024.  
Unsung Hero (volunteer of the year)   A volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to local sport. This could be a dedicated volunteer within a sports club setting who you feel deserves recognition for their commitment to supporting and developing the club and its members. Must be aged 18 or over 1st September 2024.  
Young Sports Personality of the Year (U18) An athlete who has made a significant impact over the last year at a county regional, national or international level either individually or as part of a team. Must be aged under 18 on 1st September 2024.  
Young Volunteer (U18) A young volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to local sport. This could be a dedicated volunteer within a sports club setting who you believe deserves recognition for their commitment to supporting and developing the club and its members. Must be aged under 18 on 1st Sept 2024.  

Awards Evening

Candidates who are shortlisted for an award will be contacted by 6th September 2024 and invited to an awards ceremony, taking place on Wednesday 16th October at the Mill Arts & Events Centre, Bellingham Lane, Rayleigh, SS6 7ED.
