In April 2022 Rochford District Council changed the way they calculate Council Tax Support for working age people. A simpler banded scheme was introduced which is demonstrated below.

As some customers received less financial support the Council agreed to “Protection Payments”. These were awarded to anyone who received less Council Tax Support, under the new scheme, for the whole of the 22/23 financial year.
During the Full Council meeting on the 15th February 2023, it was agreed that these protection payments would be extended for the 23/24 financial year.
Customers who remain entitled to Council Tax Support, do not need to do anything. Their protection payment will be applied to their Council Tax account automatically.
Any customer that was entitled to Council Tax Support on the 31st March 2022, but lost their support when the scheme changed, needs to complete an application form. This is so we can work out your protection payment for the 23/24 financial year. If this applies to you, we will write to you.
If you have received a letter about applying for a protection payment, please complete the form.
Please do not complete this form, if we have not written to you.
If you are not getting Council Tax Support, but think you are entitled based on the above table, please make an application by visiting Local Council Tax Support page
