Home to school transport
Essex County Council provides transport for children to attend their local school or a nearer school where that school is 2 miles or more from the home or 3 miles or more if the child is aged 8 years and above. The latter applies from the point at which the child starts Year 4 or primary education. Links to more information are in the Related Content section.

Essex County Council are responsible for organising Governors for schools across Essex.

Funding for pupils
Essex County Council can provide support to families through free school meals, help towards the cost of a uniform in exceptional circumstances only, help with school or college transport if you are over 16 and funding if you want to stay on at school after 16.
Funding may be available for the following:

- Post 16 transport
- Learner Support
- Uniform Grants and Necessitous Clothing Allowance
- Post 16 Transport for Special Educational Needs Students
